DNV GL launches new generation of integrity management software for plants

By combining the best functionality of two products, DNV GL has launched a new plant integrity software solution which supports operators and plants owners in the drive to optimise plant operations and safety.

The increasing complexity of plant production processes impacts both operational risk and business performance.

Synergi Plant

The merger of DNV and GL last year not only brought together the first consolidation of two leading classification societies, it also combined technical know-how, expertise and products. To address the challenge of plant integrity management production, each company’s market-leading solutions have combined to create the new Synergi Plant software. This brings together GL’s Galiom product for managing asset integrity risk with DNV’s legacy software, Synergi Plant which has been used by operators of both upstream and downstream process plants and offshore platforms worldwide.

”Bringing these two solutions together creates a much more powerful ‘best of breed’ software product which represents a strengthened offering to manage plant operational risk and business performance,” says Are Føllesdal Tjønn, DNV GL. “Combining the technical strengths of two products will enable plant and platform owners to improve overall control of their asset conditions by optimising inspection, asset monitoring and links to their maintenance system.”

Modules and features taken from the Galiom product, include bespoke risk based inspection (RBI) and reliability centered maintenance (RCM) modules. The formula engine and data libraries have also been migrated into Synergi Plant’s web-based and configurable platform, with enhanced usability, integration and reporting.

“Our customers will be able to appreciate the depth of our latest offering of RBI and RCM functionality within the new Synergi Plant offering,” says Mathews Varkey, who is leading the Synergi Plant development team at DNV GL. “The work done so far is an important step towards the full integration of these products. By migrating RBI and RCM from Galiom to the new Synergi Plant software provides increased analytical strength to manage asset integrity risk.”

The bespoke RBI module enables consultants and users to configure their own qualitative or semi-quantitative RBI methodologies, formula, damage categories, risk matrix and other RBI contents and logic. Synergi Plant also includes standard RBI modules for implementing API 580/581 RBI standard for onshore plants, DNV RP G101 RBI standard for offshore topsides, and a new power plant RBI module.
